In December 2015, the U.S. Supreme Court heard the oral arguments for the case of Elonis v. United States. This case involved holding someone criminally liable for "threats" made through social media. Elonis made multiple comments on Facebook saying he wanted to kill his wife, law enforcement officials, and students. He was convicted of threatening someone through the internet. This is the first case for the U.S. Supreme Court that questions the limitations of speech through social media.

I think Elonis should be held accountable for this because threatening to kill multiple people is not something that should be taken likely!
ReplyDeleteI think the right actions were took. Even though the threats weren't face to face, its still a threat! Keeping people safe should always be the first priority!
